Database Manager
In this IT job, you’ll be potentially building and organising, managing and accessing the company’s vital information. In this managerial role, you’ll be managing a team of database assistants, the size of the team will vary according to the company you’re working for. These database management roles are especially important in companies who need to hold and access a lot of information for example client account information. Your day to day tasks will involve management of existing programmes and databases used to store and access the information. You’ll work closely with other departments who use the programme to retrieve information and assess possible improvements that could be made or new features added. As a result of this, you and your team will work on designing, building and implementing new programmes or software to improve database retrieval for staff.

IT Manager
This job involves managing the IT team of the company and talking with other staff about how the IT systems currently in place could be improved. You’ll advise businesses on IT systems or developments they could make to improve their work and according to the skill/knowledge of your team, you could potentially be designing, building and implementing new IT systems for the company to use. Whether this is their public website or internal systems, you’ll need to ensure you have a vast knowledge of the IT industry to help you manage your team. You’ll also probably have to report to your own manager, reporting about the efficiency of IT systems, while also negotiating and agreeing time scales and budgets for new IT work.

Network Manager
This role is similar to that of the Database Manager, in that you’ll be managing a companies network systems. This job in IT however; involves online internal and external security programmes, a procedure especially important to avoid hacking and the leakage of confidential information. You’ll be managing the company’s network when it comes to staff email, files and internet on a security and maintenance basis. As a manager, you’ll be responsible for a team of network assistants in this IT job. You’ll also be supporting staff queries and monitoring/maintaining current systems. Staff may need training on how to use the system and so you and your team will need to provide this.
