This job involves managing the IT team of the company and talking with other staff about how the IT systems currently in place could be improved. You’ll advise businesses on IT systems or developments they could make to improve their work and according to the skill/knowledge of your team, you could potentially be designing, building and implementing new IT systems for the company to use. Whether this is their public website or internal systems, you’ll need to ensure you have a vast knowledge of the IT industry to help you manage your team. You’ll also probably have to report to your own manager, reporting about the efficiency of IT systems, while also negotiating and agreeing time scales and budgets for new IT work.
This role is similar to that of the Database Manager, in that you’ll be managing a companies network systems. This job in IT however; involves online internal and external security programmes, a procedure especially important to avoid hacking and the leakage of confidential information. You’ll be managing the company’s network when it comes to staff email, files and internet on a security and maintenance basis. As a manager, you’ll be responsible for a team of network assistants in this IT job. You’ll also be supporting staff queries and monitoring/maintaining current systems.
